The
Gulf Tourism Committee (GTC) was established
by a resolution from the Board of Directors of the Union
during the 25th session in Abu Dhabi in March 28th, 2000.
The
objectives of the GTC are:
-
Follow
up and promote the tourism industry and marketing between
the GCC countries and the rest of the world.
-
Highlight
the civilized, touristic facade of the GCC countries
and tourism marketing opportunities; and introduce the
GCC countries as a unique entity with interlaced interests,
individually or collectively.
-
Coordinate
between tourism agencies and festivals in GCC countries
in order to avoid conflict between touristic and marketing
projects or programs.
-
Provide
active means for permanent identification of the tourism
sector in general, pinpointing any problems and finding
proper solutions.
-
Encourage
the GCC citizens to work in the tourism sector, and
spread the domestic tourism appreciation among the Gulf
citizens.
